Last week marked the visit of the acting Premier of the North West Rev. J O Tselapedi, accompanied by Executive Mayor of Matlosana Mr. China Dodovu, to the site of Uranium One's Dominion Reefs Uranium Mine (DRUM), as preparations continue for the uranium production to commence next year. They received a New Order Mining Right for the DRUM project from the Department of Minerals and Energy last month. Uranium one's Executive Vice President, Bruce Jones, expressed his delight in hosting the acting Premier at DRUM when showing him the decline shafts as well as the new Uranium plant. As DRUM develops, they are expecting to boost their workforce from the current 1 300 employees to around 2 750 people of which the majority will continue to come from the local communities. Rev. Tselapedi was visiting the district to discuss the concerns of residents, and was joined by other local dignitaries at an Imbizo at Tigane. This Imbizo and DRUM visit was attended by the MEC for Economic Development and Tourism Mr. Darkey Africa, the MEC for Developmental Local Government and Housing Mr. Phanye Vilakazi, MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture Mr. Ndleleni Duma, Executive Mayor China Dodovu and Bruce Jones from Uranium One. Jones stated that they were gratified to attend the community discussions, as most of 40% of their workforce came from Tigane.
Jones was
pleased to see what a vibrant community spirit they have at Tigane,
where hundreds of our employees have their homes and families which
coincides with their choice of not having the tradional mining
accommodation system. Dodovu has been selected to participate as a trustee of the Community Trust, which Uranium One is establishing as part of its empowerment structure. With booming base metals prices, uranium is normally overlooked, but some brave investors have noticed that uranium has increased six fold in less than five years SXRUranium CEO Neal Froneman thinks there is still an upside. His prediction is for $70 a pound by the end of the year and $100 “some time next year.” The current price is about $60, up $4 this week. Cynics say the uranium story sounds too good to be true. “I think there's a lot of froth in the price of certain stocks” but this is not the opinion of Froneman who told the media recently, not offering an opinion on whether he thought this applied to SXRUranium, which has increased more than 150% this year alone. Froneman warns that the uranium investment cycle (at least for shares) is “probably entering quite a dangerous phase” with “everybody's climbing on the bandwagon”. He expressed their concern about global warming, that is thought to be caused partly by burning fossil fuels such as coal, will result in increased uranium demand as governments realize there is no commercially viable alternative to fossil fuels other than uranium. SXR expects to produce uranium at its Klerksdorp Dominion mine in the first quarter of 2007. PLATINUM JOIN NORTH WEST AND JAPAN! By - Inge Olivier. Premier condemns display of apartheid flag at school North West Premier Edna Molewa, has condemned the display of the apartheid regime's national flag at “Christelike Volks Onderwys”(CVO) School in Litchtenburg. “This amounts to an insult and disrespect to our national symbols and the strides we have made as a nation to build an inclusive society," said Ms Molewa. According to the Premier's Office, learners at the school sing the apartheid anthem “Die Stem” during morning assemblies and not South Africa's current official national anthem. The Premier has since ordered the Department of Education to investigate the matter. The school management has apparently said the old national anthem and the apartheid flag were a cultural expression. “It appears we are dealing here with a passionate hankering for the past which is masquerading as preservation of culture. The old apartheid flag was a symbol of oppression and racial divisions and had nothing to do with the culture of any group," said the Premier. The CVO is a private school that receives an annual grant from the provincial government. My naam is Frans Prins. Die familie noem my “Buffeltjie”, omdat ek altyd my sussie geboelie het. My kontak nommer is 083 388 1571. Baie dankie!

Event Management faculties with the support of the Klerksdorp Rotarians,

to raise funds for the Tshepong Burn Unit. An estimated R4300, 00 was
raised at the Golf event in addition to many other sponsors, they were

chairs for the Burn Unit to use at their facility. Sister Alina Phamodi

Rehearsal for “Séance le Fantaisie” Photo above: Dancers from Le Danze School of dance after their lst full rehearsal for the “Séance le Fantaisie” later this month.
