Klerksdorp City Council Appeals to Farmers for Help

The City Council of Klerksdorp and The Airport committee are appealing to local farmers to assist in the cutting of the dangerously long grass on the runways at the airport.

The problem of the long grass on the runways at the PC Pelser Airport is a dangerous and problematic one. Due to budget constraints as well as a huge demand for council equipment because of the season we are in. The City Council is battling to keep up with the demand of cutting of municipal grass.

An obvious area of great concern to The City Council is the PC Pelser Airport, which has been neglected for some time. The City Council is very aware of the danger there of.

The Parks and Recreation Department in conjunction with the airport committee feel that they have come up with a solution.

The idea is that the farmer cuts the grass for The City Council, using the farmers equipment and labour in return for the grass,  which can be used as cattle feed.

Any person interested in assisting with this project must please contact Mrs. Sandy Botha (018) 484 7051 or Mr. H Bindemann (018) 462 5700.

Your assistance would be much appreciated by all.

Klerksdorp City Council.

Miss. Schoonspruit

Engela Smit was crowned as the first ever Miss. Schoonie last week Thursday, followed by the first princess, Cindy Ferreira, and the second princess, Natasha Smith. The girls from Schoonspruit really showed that they mean business when it comes to be being beautiful (But, now that’s true about most girls in Klerksdorp isn’t it?)

Vicky van Niekerk from VC Gold productions organized the event; the master of ceremonies was none other than Bart from “Sewende Laan”. Ray Dylan entertained the crowd. The school hall was packed and everyone were enjoying the evening.

We, at Yourcity, would like to congratulate the winners and say to all the girls competing: You were beautiful!!!

Business Summit on Private Public Partnership for Social Development

Inleiding

Welsynsprojekte

Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever

Your most dangerous enemies are the friends you've double-crossed.

In the deadly game of international espionage, elite, anonymous operatives wage secret wars for power, information and national security. Agendas are rarely what they seem. Word has recently been circulating in these exclusive ranks of an ingenious new assassination device. Microscopic and injectable, it lies dormant inside its victim until activated and then kills in an instant, leaving no trace. In the frantic race to obtain this device, only two individuals, sworn enemies, have the skill, talent and tenacity to succeed.

One is an agent known only by the code name Sever (Lucy Liu). Lethally trained to be the perfect weapon, Sever is precise and relentless in her pursuit of a goal. The other is the brilliant and determined former FBI man-hunter Jeremiah Ecks (Anonio Banderas). Once preeminent in his field, Ecks resigned from the agency when his wife was killed in an explosion that left him a guilt-ridden emotional shell of himself. Now, forced back into service by his former mentor for the most challenging assignment of his career, Ecks prepares to face off against agent Sever, his most formidable foe.

In the fierce competition for this deadly prize there can only be one winner. But when the rules change, these two dedicated adversaries find that the one they're trying to defeat might be the only one they can trust.

Other events:

In 1902, American aviation pioneer Charles A. Lindbergh was born in Detroit, Michigan. "Lucky Lindy" was the first to fly solo and nonstop across the Atlantic Ocean when he piloted "The Spirit of St. Louis" from New York to Paris on May 20-21, 1927. His fame also brought tragedy -- his infant son was kidnapped for ransom and later found dead in 1932. Lindbergh died of cancer at his home near Hana, Maui, Hawaii, on August 26, 1974; he was 72.

In 1920, first flight from London to South Africa takes-off (1 1/2 months).

In 1957, Smith-Corona Manufacturing Inc. of New York began selling portable electric typewriters. The first machine was a 'portable' that weighed 19 pounds.

In 1974, Chimpanzee Nim Chimsky signed his first word at 2 1/2 months.

In 1976, Lourenco Marques, the capital of Mozambique, was renamed Maputo.

In 1998, 5 years ago, BILL GATES CREAMED -- Bill Gates got a faceful of cream pie in Brussels as he arrived for a meeting with business and government leaders. Three pranksters lobbed pies at the Microsoft chairman, but only one made a direct hit. With cream dripping onto the shoulders of his dark business suit and covering the lenses of his glasses, Gates was led into a side room to clean up.

He emerged looking somewhat embarrassed. Noel Godin, a Belgian prankster who has targeted celebrities in the past, later took responsibility on Belgian TV. "This was a victory for us. We will continue to send our burlesque statements," he said.
