Overland on Bicycle

It is with anticipation and great expectation that the Overland Group of Companies is proud to present the biggest cycle race in the North West Province.

Due to the size of the event, the event has qualified as a classic cycle race and will be taking place between Klerksdorp and Potchefstroom, starting at the Markotter Sport Stadium.  This is the first event of its kind in the North West Province and the organizers are proud to announce that the Executive Mayors of both Klerksdorp and Potchefstroom will officially be starting the cycle challenge.  Councillor Riani de Wet will also be a guest of honour at the race.

It is with thanks that the organizers thank all sponsors to this event and wish to confirm that all proceeds received from same event, will be donated towards Aids Awareness and Education in the North West Province.

The event will have three different distances, one being a 120km which runs along the N12 to Potchefstroom and back.  The second being a 64km which runs along the N12 as well and the third being a fun ride of 15km.

The public is invited to join in the festivities of the day as there will be food and cold drink stalls available at the Markotter Sport Stadium which is the starting and finishing point.

Cyclists must keep in mind that on-line entries close on Tuesday 18 March 2003.  Line entries for all three distances will be accepted at the Markotter Sport Stadium from 09:00 until 15:00 on Saturday 29 March 2003.

For more information, watch M-Net’s Super Cycling sport program on Tuesday 25 March 2003 when “Mighty Mouse”, Mr Andrew McLean, will interview Mr José de Achadinha, the main sponsor of the event, who will be giving further details pertaining to the days events.  All cyclists are invited to register on-line at www.cyclelab.com

Mike's Kitchen Platter Day.

The friendly people at MIKE’S KITCHEN invited us to attend a tasting session of their platters last week, and may I say I was impressed. The cook presented us with four different platters that can be prepared in one hour. (perfect if you need to quickly organize a lunch at work)

The time that it takes to prepare is no measure of the taste of the platters. Everything was masterfully presented and very, very tasty!

We can with confidence recommend that you use Mike’s to cater for you next function or small staff party. Come on give them a call at (018) 462 2076

This Weeks Movie Review:

The Transporter

Rules are made to be broken

Ex-Special Forces operator Frank Martin (Snatch’s Jason Statham) lives what seems to be a quiet life along the French Mediterranean, hiring himself out as a mercenary “transporter” who moves goods – human or otherwise – from one place to another. No questions asked.
Carrying out mysterious and sometimes dangerous tasks in his tricked-out Mercedes, Frank adheres to a strict set of rules, which he never breaks. Rule One: Never change the deal. Rule Two: No names – Frank doesn’t want to know whom he’s working for, or what he’s transporting. Rule Three: Never look in the package.

Frank’s newest transport seems no different from the countless ones he’s done in the past. He has been hired by an American known only as “Wall Street” (see Rule Two) to make a delivery, but when Frank stops along route, he notices his “package” is moving. Violating Rule Three, Frank looks inside the bag, finding its contents to be a beautiful, gagged woman.

Frank’s steadfast adherence to his other two rules – which make up his basic code of survival – also quickly falls, hurtling him and his new companion on a road leading to shocking secrets, deadly complications, and the last thing Frank ever expected to come to believe: that rules are made to be broken.

Oscar nominee Leonardo Di Caprio and two-time Academy Award-winner Tom Hanks engage in a game of cat and mouse in the real-life crime drama Catch Me If You Can, under the direction of three-time Oscar winner Steven Spielberg .
