Mr Danny Jordaan CEO of FIFA took time out of probably one of the busiest schedule in the country to spend time with The Executive Mayor of Klerksdorp and his management team. He came personally to waiver any fears that "the city of people" might have with regard to being a candidate city for world cup soccer 2010.  A focused meeting was held on August 22 at the Protea Lodge board room and very valuable advice was given to the leadership of Klerksdorp. This message was then taken to the public to a much larger forum. The second leg visit of FIFA was confirmed and Mr Jordaan mentioned that "Klerksdorp were actually in a more fortunate position because we are able to learn from the "big city" visit which took place last month."

World Cup 2010 Soccer Brunch

Phil Masinga, a well know soccer legend, Dennis Mumble, part of the 2010 Local Organizing Committee and Councillor John Douw all attended Tuesday's World Cup 2010 Soccer Brunch held in Klerksdorp.  Mumble said that the 2010 Soccer World Cup promises to be even more popular than the 2006 German World Cup. FIFA is expecting about 2.78 million spectators for the 2010 event.

The new Executive Committee of the Klerksdorp

The new Executive Committee of the Klerksdorp Community Tourism Association was elected during the association's Annual General Meeting held on Thursday 18 August 2005. The new committee are from left (back) Daan van Rensburg (Treasurer), Marius Cronje (Additional Member), John Owambo (Chairperson) and Hennie Dreyer (Deputy Chairperson). ESKOM AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF KLERKSDORP JOIN HANDS IN ELECTRICITY-SAVING

Klerksdorp home-owners can assist to save thousands of Rands in electricity costs annually - by agreeing to have a ripple unit (or relay) connected to the geysers in their homes.

This forms part of a Residential Load Management (RLM) project implemented by Eskom and local authorities countrywide to meet the challenge posed by peak demand in South Africa.  According to Eskom's Energy Services Manager, Mr Tsholo Matlala, the utility's residential customers consume around 17,5 % of the total electricity generated, with their share of the demand at peak periods amounting to over 30 %.

EXTENSIVE R2.5 MILLION PROJECT SET TO ENSURE UNIFIED TEACHING AT INYATELO

KANANA - A spirit of joyful anticipation gripped learners and teachers at Inyatelo Public School on 3 August, when contractors moved onto the school's premises to start with the construction of an ablution block, additional classrooms and office space.
