Auto Supreme’s Magic Summer Festival

Klerksdorp – Auto Supreme is hosting the Magic Summer Festival on the 27th of November 2004.

The day’s activities will start at about 08:00 th on Saturday morning and will continue till late the afternoon. A potjiekos competition will be held to determine who really is the best potjie-maker.

Prizes will be awarded to the winning potjie, so get out those secret recipes and clean out those pots because at this festival all will know who will prevail as this year’s ultimate potjie-maker.

Oh, and just for good measure they have decided that this will be an annual event and the winner will get to keep a trophy to” brag” to all his friends that he has the “right stuff”.

To help you stay motivated Auto Supreme has decided to fill the scenery with beautiful girls. Yes, that’s right, there will also be a Miss Auto Supreme, like the potjie wasn’t enough reason to come.

There are plenty of prizes up for grabs, so girls don’t be shy and make sure your entries go in as soon as possible. You can contact Petro at 072 175 2306 for information about the pageant.

Music will be supplied and it promises to be an exiting event for the whole family to attend.

Launch of Ikageleng Drop-in Centre

The North-West Department of Social Development will launch a Drop-in Centre at “Ikageleng” in Wolmaransstad.

The centre was initiated in 1999 as a vegetable garden. An amount of more than R220 000 was donated by the Department to assist the vegetable garden project with fencing material, gardening equipment and other essentials.

It was expanded and turned into an income generating project selling prepared meals and homemade atchar. It has since then developed into a catering service provider and now,  fully fledged Drop-in Centre.

Ikageleng Drop-In Centre is envisaged to provide relief to individuals and households experiencing food insecurity in the area.

It will identify orphans and vulnerable children in the area and make referrals for appropriate services like foster care placements. Referrals to different developmental programmes will also be done and continuous assessment of vulnerable children will be made. The centre will also offer training programmes for capacity building.

More than 300 beneficiaries are already benefiting from the centre which resumed its formal activities on the 2nd of August 2004. This project has been identified by the National Department of Social Development, for the National Food Emergency Scheme (NFES).
