CSS recently held an early Christmas party for the children of the Adonai care center. They really enjoyed the great Christmas dinner and from the look on their faces they really appreciated the gifts. The vision of the centre is to uplift and educate these learners by teaching scholastic skills (mentally developing those who are trainable) and life skills needed in the home. Adonai opened its doors for visually and multi impaired learners in September 2002 with 6 children. Adonai used facilities on a farm until December 2002. Since January 2003 the centre rents suitable premises at the above address. There are now 13 learners at the centre. When it became known that several of the learners were staying at home because of serious financial need, we arranged for transport. Although these learners receive disability grants, their domestic circumstances are such that the money is used to support the family. It is shocking to see in what terrible shape and state some of these learners were in. For some of them the only proper meal they receive is one supplied by the centre. Insufficient nutrition has led to allow immunity against illness. This has been rectified largely due to the feeding program at the centre. Most of the learners receive no physical or mental stimulation at home. In many cases the parents need to be advised and assisted to improve their own lives in order to assist the children. One of the learners sat in an old chair tending a backyard old tuck shop from 7 am till 11 pm. Some of the learners at the age of 13 did not know what it was to run or how to wash their faces. The facility has wooden floors necessary for the visually impaired. The facility has 6 rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and is situated on half an acre undeveloped ground. A management committee of seven people is in charge of the day to day running of the Adonai Centre. Unfortunately the center needs urgent funding or help as none of the people involved in the center gets any salary for their time and love. The center only relies on the generosity of people in the community. If you would like to help contact Archer Financial Services on tel: 468-1998 fax: 468 7428 e-mail: tony@archer.co.za . Vakansie pret by Flamwood Walk Vanaf twee to vyftien Desember gaan die Klerksdorpse Rotariërs ‘n “Skateboard” baan by die Flamwood Walk oprig. Hulle will graag all die BMX, skaatsplankryers en rolskaatsryers bewus maak van die pretvolle sport. Flamwood Walk beoog om nog ‘n sement skaatsbaan op te rig sodat almal hierdie sport kan geniet On the 26th of November 2004 the Executive Mayor of Klerksdorp, Mr Jaycee Nxamakele hosted a summit dedicated to growth and development within Klerksdorp and it's surrounding areas. The Summit was held at the Auditorium, Civic Centre. Main objectives of the summit was to expose the Provincial Growth and Development Strategy to all relevant stake holders, to give targeted sectors the opportunity to present their social plans, growth and development strategies and to assist the Klerksdorp Development Agency and The World 2010 Cup Steering Committee in their various strategies. Sectors that were concentrated on were; medical, financial, residential, retail, manufacturing, tourism, mining and agriculture. Mr. Chappy Holzheimer from Invest North West delivered a speech on Invest North West as a Role Player in LED, there was also a report by Mr. Rene Lategan form Atlas Plastics on the manufacturing potential in Klerksdorp. The summit was ended with a real treat at the Banquet Hall with the launch of the Infamous Tenors with there their first recorded CD and the previewing of the beautiful fashions from Moses from Afro-Fist. World Cup 2010 Media Release Klerksdorp Record - 25 November 2004 I was once again shocked and stunned by Mr. Van Jaarsveld's arrogance and blatant abuse of "the power of the pen." I am not sure what he is trying to gain from the changed letter which appeared in last week's Record. His sarcastic comments were un-called for and vindictive (in my humble opinion). It disappoints me to see that a man of his intelligence and "status" is allowed to continuously abuse his position at The Klerksdorp Record. His irritating mannerisms continue to effect good, hardworking citizens of Klerksdorp. His "speed cop" / "bank manager" mentality is not good for the public image of your community news papers. Mr. Van Jaarsveld can continue his slander and attempt to taint my reputation as much as he feels fit. He must, however, realise that I am not going to disappear into a little hole. I will voice my opinion and continue to protect myself when and where ever I feel the need to. I trust that mine and Mr Van Jaarsveld's irreparable relationship will not be detrimental to either of the organizations we represent. (Article supplied by Sandy Botha, Divisional Head Marketing.)
