Phakisa voted best 2004 MotoGP race

The 2004 MotoGP at Phakisa Freeway hosted in April last year, was voted as the best race of the 2004 season.

Fans from all corners of the globe voted on the official MotoGP website that the opening race of the season with a hair-raising and a frenetic duel between Valentino Rossi (Gauloises Fortuna Yamaha), Max Biaggi (Camel Honda Team) and Sete Gibernau (Telefonica Movistar Honda) was the best race of the entire season.

Before the race was pronounced as the best of the series, an emotional Rossi commented after the race that this was one of the best races of his career.  After hitting the flag from the claws of Biaggi, he parked his bike on the warm-down lap, sunk to his haunches, hugged and kissed his Yamaha in tears of joy

Rossi's plan was to have a good start and set a high rhythm, which he managed to do, and by the end he tried his best to win and he was able to do exactly that.

This opening victory by the Italian paved way to the historic series victory against the Spaniard Gibernau and another Italian, Biaggi.

He also won the 250 cc, 500 cc and MotoGP races at Phakisa Freeway in the past events.
