College Northwest's top hockey school
College emerged as Northwest's top hockey school after winning all three of the Northwest high schools hockey leagues on Saturday the 21st of August.
College's first team scored 3-1 against St Conrads (Brothers) of Klerksdorp, the under 16A beat Shelly Park of Rustenburg 3-0 and the under 14A's beat Brothers 3-1.
College aims to build on the momentum gained and the Centenary Committee has decided that the next centenary project will be an Astro at College. The new tuck shop is almost finished and the foundations of the lecture theatre have been laid thanks to money that has been raised by the school, but funds are needed to build the Astro.
We are appealing to Old Boys to donate R 1000 to the project. In return we will put your name on the board at the lecture theatre and issue you with a tax certificate for making a donation to the school, so you should get some of your money back at the end of the tax year.
We are also appealing to Companies who I am sure are all aware of Black Empowerment and the social responsibility that they all have to do, to get BE points. Why not invest in College and earn some points in this way? For more information please contact Miss Combrinck at (018) 2945339. College wins Cross Country Championships
College's cross country team won the Northwest high schools cross country championship held at the Kenneth McArther stadium recently. In this event each school had six runners and Macdonald Taole from College won the race in a time of 20,25 . The first three schools were 1. College 2. Klerksdorp Tech 3. Klerksdorp Höerskool These three schools will go through to the South African cross country championships next month. Many Old Boys will remember the compulsory Cross country in the first term and your first morning at College starting at 5h00 with a quick 5km jog. It is still compulsory and the reason why they have to wake up so early is because some new boys take two hours to walk/run 5km's. To watch the cross country team in action is something else as it is quite evident that the joggers just love running.
Klerksdorp – On the 27 August 2004 OFM, and the local business sector hosted a cricket day for businessmen of the community at Schoonspruit High School. There were six teams that took part and every team was captained by an OFM representative. Heyke Berg a star from Egoli and Plek van die Vleiseters attended the cricket event. It was a day filled with laughs, bruised ego’s, the occasional smoke on the field and witty comments amongst players all of which added fun to the event.
Later the evening a prize giving was held and Heyke was the guest of honour. The event was a huge success with players eager to come back and do it again next year. By Quintin Haarhoff. VAAL REEFS IS GOUE LEEUS KAMPIOEN
