MEC Rasmeni continues to stop fraud The North West Department of Social Development led by MEC Nomonde Rasmeni continues its campaign to end fraud and corruption in social grants administration, by holding an Imbizos at Jouberton Brazil Stadium on 15 February. The aim of the campaign is to urge the public to inform the department about corruption and fraud taking place within the social grants system. Beneficiaries who are currently defrauding the state by unlawfully receiving grants will also be urged to make use of the indemnity period that has been granted by Minister Zola Skweyiya, to come forth and apply for amnesty. The provincial department has lost an estimated R26 million on fraudulent social grants that are paid out to civil servants. There are also beneficiaries who are not civil servants who continue to defraud social grant administration system by providing wrong information about their financial status when applying for grants. “Since it is not easy to identify the general public who are defrauding the system, different mechanism are going to be utilized to encourage those who may be engaged in these illegal activities to come and seek amnesty before 31 March 2005”, said MEC Nomonde Rasmeni. So far the department has successfully held Imbizos in Central and Bophirima Districts respectively, to encourage members of the community to come out and report fraudulent cases of social grant. Hoekom s ek so? The Most Romantic Valentine’s Couple in Klerksdorp Valentine’s Day has come and gone. A time where couples get to treat each other to candle light dinners and romantic movies. Yourcity and St. Andrews held a competition to find the most romantic couple in Klerksdorp. They had to state why they think they should be the most romantic couple in Klerksdorp. The couple received a weekend stay at St. Andrews, a massage session and loads of prizes. After a difficult decision, the winners of the Most Romantic Valentines Couple Competition were Barrie Havenga and Tracey Lategan. Congrats!
