Picture yourself about to walk down the aisle in a beautiful dress designed by The Girls. Your dress is complemented by elegant jewellery from Honey. Kathleen's has professionally done your hair, make-up, and nails. You look absolutely stunning as you are stepping out of your dream-wedding car that has been provided by Agenbag Motors in Klerksdorp. Who says fairy tales never come true? Thanks to Your City and St. Andrew's Guest House the dream doesn't end here. These are only a few of the amazing prizes that you can win if chosen as Fiancée of the Year. The dream wedding will take place in the romantic atmosphere of St. Andrew's Guest House. You won't need to worry about dinner, as the friendly and professional staff of St. Andrew's will cater to the event. Your wedding photos will be elegantly placed in a photo album by Ceazar photography. A video or DVD will be made so you can treasure your wonderful day for years to come. Every detail is being , taken care of, even the marriage contract, which will be written up by the office of Nilsen, Steenkamp and Koen. To top it off, the newly married couple will get to spend their first night together, surrounded by roses and champagne, in the romantic honeymoon suite at St. Andrew's. This fantastic contest opens this month and will continue until February 2006 when the Fiancée of the Year will be chosen. At the end of each month Your City will choose a finalist to be entered to win their dream-wedding package. These monthly finalists will also win some great prizes from various sponsors. Once all the lucky finalists have been chosen they will be invited to attend a gala evening at St. Andrew's Guest House. It will be at this fabulous evening that the Fiancée of the Year will be chosen. The best part of the contest is that it is so easy to enter. All you have to do is write to Your City and tell us how you got engaged and why you should be chosen as Fiancée of the Year. Include a photo, and keep your story limited to 150 words or less. You can fax your entry to 088 (018) 468 8883; or drop it off at the office of Your City on the corner of Smit and Platan Avenue in Klerksdorp. Good luck and may all your wedding dreams come true! By Lisa Rivett An alarming 1 in 4 South Africans are affected by cancer. Adopting a healthy lifestyle can help lower this statistic. CANSA is launching their annual Toktokkie campaign this month. As part of the campaign they will be visiting local schools and churches with a “healthy” message. Toktokkie's mascot, a friendly purple beetle, will be educating children about eating habits, exercising, being sun-smart, and not smoking. Moira Fourie is involved with the Toktokkie campaign. She explains that it is important to start teaching these healthy habits at a young age. The TK mascot, who sings and dances, is a great way to get children to respond. She hopes that the program will help to change the way people think about food. If children are encouraged to choose fruit instead of candy, they may continue to make healthy food choices as adults. In short healthier children can make healthier adults. The TokTokkie campaign isn't just about educating children. CANSA is also delivering their healthy living message to adults and trying to raise funds for the organization. CANSA needs funding to be able to continue to provide educational programs, conduct cancer research projects, and offer treatment and after care centers for those affected by cancer. CANSA definitely provides a worthwhile service for all South Africans. Please be generous and support this worthy cause.
