Stilfontein Mardi Grass

SAFE EASY TANNING

By Lisa Rivett

Everyone likes the look of a tan, yet we all know that prolonged sun exposure is a major health risk. Beautifly's salon in Klerksdorp offers a safe alternative to capturing the “sun kissed “ look.

The salon offers a quick and easy spray-on tan. The main ingredient of Beautifly's Caribbean Rapid Air Tan is green tea. It is not known to cause any skin reactions, and is a much healthier option to lying on a sun bed. The whole process takes about 10 to 15 minutes, and exfoliation is highly recommended the night before.

The procedure itself can be a bit embarrassing for some, as clients are asked to stand in a g-string while being sprayed. After being sprayed, loose, dark clothing should be worn, and clients may not bath for five hours.

It is recommended to book your appointment at the end of the day so you can relax at home while your new tan absorbs into the skin. It is also advised to avoid perfumes, lotions, and make-up before getting your tan.

Don't be alarmed if the tan looks a bit blotchy during the first five hours. This is normally due to the fact that some areas must be sprayed heavier than others.  After bathing the tan will even out.

One spray of Beautifly's Caribbean Rapid Air Tan will usually last up to 5 days. A second spray within 24 hours will give a tan that can last up to ten days. A third spray will give up to 20 days of beautifully tanned skin.

Maintenance of the tan is very important. Moisturizing and staying away from exfoliating can be the key to a lasting tan.

Beautifly's salon offers full body and half body tans as well as a full range of other beauty services. Contact them at (018)-468-2618 for more details or to book appointments.

Mr. and Miss Reach for a Dream

The Reach for a Dream Foundation fulfils the dreams of children, between the ages of 3 and 18 years, suffering from life-threatening illnesses. Last year they fulfilled 200 dreams with new dream applications being received daily.

The Pretoria office covers a vast region, including the Limpopo Province, Mpumalanga and the North-West Province.  “We have the privilege of seeing the fulfillment of hundreds of wonderful dreams that make difficult lives just that much easier to bear. Seeing the joy on a child's face reminds us of how rewarding it is to play a small part in fulfilling the dreams of those who do not have much else to celebrate or to be happy about.”

“Our dream children are in fact very sick despite their brave smiles and ongoing optimism. Some are terminally ill and will not live long enough to fulfill their own dreams or ambitions.  Very often a child's dream is to visit the sea, many of course for the first time, and when that dream is fulfilled the whole family forms part of the dream. We are inclined to forget what the impact is when a child is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, even on the siblings.”

Besides the dreams, they also arrange outings and camps to provide children with an escape from the routine and discomfort of long medical care and hospitalization, and hopefully help them make very special memories.  Reach For A Dream is self-financed and does not receive any subsidies. They depend on donors and sponsors to help realize the fantasy world that inspires and invigorates these brave and special children. To raise funds, Reach for a Dream Pretoria, undertakes different fundraising projects such as the Mr. and Miss Reach for a Dream.

This competition is open to ALL girls & boys aged; girls:3-5yrs, 6-8 yrs, 9-11yrs, 12-14yrs, 15-18yrs and boys: 4-11 & 12-16.  An entry fee of R50, 00 is payable by each entrant. 5 Finalists will be selected in each category that will go through to the finals.
