Veral as jy `n stalletjie by die fees wil hę.

Vir verdere navrae, skakel die kantoor by (018) 294 7509 of besoek die webwerf by www.aardklop.co.za.

Tiger, or Leopard, Loose

By Lisa Rivett

Last week there were rumors of a tiger, or leopard, running loose in Klerksdorp.

Many different stories surfaced about where the animal came from. Some said it ran away from Faan Meinjies Nature Reserve.

Others claimed it escaped from the circus that was in town a few months ago. Still, no one is absolutely sure where it came from, just that it was here.

Then there were sightings. One witness told people it was lurking around the MCC Spar in Klerksdorp.

Another source claimed that game rangers found “animal droppings” on the roof of the grocery store.

Although, it was unclear from these droppings, whether the animal was a tiger, a leopard, or some other mysterious large beast. Definitely something was on the loose. The next sighting was by a resident in the Flamwood area.

This time the tiger/leopard was seen running through someone's backyard. Shortly after this, stories started circulating that the wild beast had actually eaten someone's pet!

Unfortunately no one has managed to catch the tiger/leopard. That could mean it is still on the loose. But before you start to set traps around your property, here is something to think about.

The animal has now mysteriously disappeared, just as mysteriously as it appeared around April 1st.   It is possible that you heard about the escaped animal on the radio.

Even if this is so, do not immediately think that it cannot be an April Fools hoax. First consider this story. A few years ago, on April 1st, a film company in Britain aired a short documentary on television about “spaghetti farmers”.

The documentary detailed, quite seriously, how these “farmers” harvested their crops of spaghetti from “spaghetti trees”.

It was a new plant that would change the world of pasta forever.  The story kind of lends a new meaning to, “If it's on TV, than it must be true.”

The final decision is yours. Maybe you did see a tiger or leopard running loose in Klerksdorp.

Maybe it was just an elaborate April Fools joke. You decide.
