Matlosana Magic At Aardklop!

The Matlosana City Council has teamed up with AngloGold Ashanti's Local Talent Stage to bring the public an amazing mix of talented local performers. After a series of auditions a diverse cross section of 133 artists, consisting of 1163 individuals, have been chosen to represent the city of Klerksdorp at Aardklop. 

Sandy Botha, of the City Council, explains, “Because we are aware of the incredible talent that is present in our city, we have strategically chosen AngloGold Ashanti's existing Aardklop initiative as a vehicle to expose some of the most energetic and skilled young performers that the city has to offer.” 

As a platform to compete in the AngloGold Ashanti RouGoud Awards, the performers will also be given the chance to receive amazing prizes, including a partial sponsorship from Artema to attend an Arts Management course at NWU and a chance to record a debut CD and DVD. 

Although the lineup consists of many unsigned amateurs, all the performers have attended an intensive grooming workshop to prepare them for the spotlight. Larissa la Grange from AngloGold Ashanti's Aardklop project team promises that audiences will be swept away by the rich spectrum of performances, all of which have been polished to allow their natural talent to shine through. 

This experience, which runs from 24 to 29 September, promises to add a special sparkle to this year's Aardklop. All performances at the AngloGold Ashanti's Local Talent Stage are free to the public, from early morning to late evening. Be sure not to miss this chance to experience the diversity and depth of Klerksdorps' artistic and cultural heritage.
